Happy 75th Birthday, NHS

Today we areΒ  celebrating the NHS and its staff for everything they have achieved over the past 75 years

Since the NHS (National Health Service) was launched in 1948, it has never stood still, continually innovating and adapting to meet the changing needs of patients throughout the UK.

As a psychology student, aspiring towards qualifying as a clinical psychologist, working in the NHS is one of my goals on my journey, and I was very happy that earlier this year, toward the end of the 2nd year of my BSc Psychology undergraduate course, I was able to get a role taking the first step in working for the NHS.

NHS roles are notoriously hard to find and although my role is currently as a volunteer, working one day a week in an NHS hospital psych ward, it is already giving me immense knowledge and valuable experience of working in a psychiatric/psychological setting with real patients. And every day I am amazed at the work and the difference that the NHS psychological and psychiatric staff make to hundreds of patients. This role has not given me a foot in the door to working for the NHS but will provide very helpful later on when I decide to apply for other paid NHS roles within psychology.

I feel so proud to be a member of the NHS family.

To all our amazing colleagues all over the country who have made such a difference to the millions of lives over the past 75 years, thank you! And a very happy 75th birthday to the NHS!!

Hope you enjoy this little video, I put together and do take the time to subscribe and follow.
